CODEX Foundation Resources

The CODEX Foundation Logan Book Arts Center aims to be a vital part of the arts and culture community in Berkeley and beyond, focusing on the art of the handmade book – a dynamic crossroads between the visual and literary arts.

Our on-site resources inlude:

  • Artist Book & Fine Press Library: includes 3 distinct collections:
    • the CODEX Book Arts Reference Library of trade publications, including the Koch Collection of over 2500 books and periodicals

    • the Steven Cortright & Harry Reese (Mostly) Offset Conceptual Artists' Books Collection, including a full run of the journals Hand Papermaking and Visible Language

    • the CODEX Consignment Collection of Artists' Books & Fine Press Books, a sampling of work from our biennial CODEX Book Art Fair & Symposium.

  • Flex-Space: a resource for lectures and workshops with projector & speakers, chairs & tables, and presentation desk/podium. This space is available for other non-profit book art related events, please contact us for more information.
  • Letterpress Studio: we publish our own letterpress printed ephemera here, but the space is also open for letterpress printing workshops for the community and for special projects, please contact us or see our events page for more information.
