The CODEX Foundation is in the midst of planning our second major event: The 2009 biennial CODEX International Book Fair and Symposium. Events will be scheduled from February 8 through 11, 2009 on the campus of The University of California Berkeley. The Symposium “Considering the Book as a Work of Art” has an exciting line-up of speakers and presenters, including keynote presentations from Ron King (UK), Lawrence Weschler and Dave Hickey from the United States and artists from around the world. The 120 plus booths for printers are filling up at a rapid rate and international artists and publishers are heavily represented. Many of the most significant European presses are already pre-registered and the American presence will be completely sold out. New faces appearing almost daily to request space and to register for the symposium. This promises to be even more exciting than the first fair last year. CODEX 2009 is fast becoming the "World's Fair" of the Art of the Book. The CODEX Foundation’s sponsors are enthusiasts and collectors of the hand-produced book, professional and amateur artisans, publishers, artists, writers, and scholars; including printers, paper makers, book-binders, book designers, calligraphers, type designers, type founders, manufacturers and vendors of presses and inks, librarians, archivists, conservators, bibliophiles, booksellers, academic and professional educators in the book arts and the history of the book, bibliophilic clubs, and book arts organizations. We are hoping that we can count on your support for an event that has no peer around the world. Your tax deductable dollars support honoraria for our keynote speakers, hosted receptions, facilities rental, public relations, and technical & professional assistance. Please join us in our endeavor to preserve and promote the arts of the book.
